Make yourself comfortable on the balcony or terrace even in autumn
- Proper lighting: To make it nice and cosy, you should make sure that your balcony or terrace has sufficient lighting. The days are getting shorter and shorter, so it's worth putting your balcony in the right light for cosy hours. In addition to the classic wall light for the outdoor area, which is usually already available, you can also use lanterns, fairy lights, torches or even fire bowls to create the absolute feel-good effect. You can simply place lanterns and lamps on the floor or on a side table and create ambient lighting. They are also elegant home accessories that enhance the overall picture. Fairy lights on the banisters are already anticipating Christmas and torches and fire bowls are especially suitable for terraces. Gather with your loved ones around the warm, crackling fire and spend pleasant hours together.
- Cuddle up properly: But even if everything is nicely lit or even a small fire is lit, it is certainly much colder in autumn than in summer. Get cosy blankets, fur and plush cushions and snuggle up on your balcony or terrace. In addition, a few home decorations such as runners and rugs round off the look of your outdoor area in the colder seasons. However, always make sure to take blankets and cushions back indoors when the weather gets a tad more nasty.
- Autumn plants bring colour into play: Even in autumn it is worth replanting the beds and pots. Heathers are particularly popular, as they are extremely colourful and, depending on the variety, can even withstand sub-zero temperatures. The versatile heather plants can therefore be used all year round on your terrace or balcony and also need very little water. If you plant asters, chrysanthemums or cyclamen, you can also welcome bees and butterflies to your balcony. In preparation for a Christmas mood, you can also try berries instead of flowers and enjoy the red seed pods of the mock berry, for instance. Like heather, ornamental grasses are also welcome year-round companions for your outdoor space. Northern sea oats or moor grass can find a permanent home on your balcony and turn a pretty golden yellow in autumn. Other plants for a colourful autumn balcony include coral bells, petunias, dahlias, bergenias and foliage ornamentals. Bring the Indian summer to your balcony or terrace and fill your planters with lots of colours.
- Just chill out: Last but not least, a rather simple tip. Your balcony is at its best in autumn if you spend cosy hours there and associate it with things you like to do. A glass of wine with a friend on a warmer day, a cup of cocoa and a good book in combination with a thick blanket on a cold afternoon or a romantic date full of candles on a starry night. Enjoy yourself and take care of your balcony even in cold seasons to spend relaxing moments there.
