With summer just around the corner, everyone is looking forward to unwinding. Travelling is a great way to spend time with family, relax away from home and try new things. However, it can be stressful trying to figure out a way to bring your beloved furry friend with you. Here, we show you some great Relaxdays products which ensure travelling with your cat or dog is stress-free, simple and fun!

Whether you’re planning a staycation or taking your pet to another country, it’s important to make sure they are comfortable and relaxed. The regulations for taking pets abroad differ depending on the country - we recommend contacting your vets for more information.

Bringing dogs on holiday
With their loving nature and sense of adventure, dogs make for great travel buddies. As well as making sure the accommodation is suitable for dogs, you should also research local dog-friendly activities and bring toys to keep them entertained throughout your trip. Chew toys are an easy way to keep your dogs entertained on the go and even support your dogs dental health! Toys made from durable rubber or rope are particularly helpful for satisfying your dogs play instinct without breaking.

Another thing to keep in mind is dietary requirements. A sudden change in environment and food could be stressful for your dog and upset their stomach. Slow feeding bowls are a great option to make sure that your dog is eating well and avoiding vomiting. The maze-like pattern inside the bowl prevents gulping and over-eating. So you can sit back and relax without worrying about any accidents!

Bringing cats on holiday
Whilst cats may not be as active as dogs, they still make for great fluffy travel companions. However, their territorial nature can make introducing them to a new environment tricky. To keep your cat calm and stress-free, we recommend taking some home comforts on your trip such as blankets or beds. Familiar smells are important for reassuring animals and helping them feel at home means they can enjoy their holiday as much as you.

Travelling with cats or dogs can sometimes seem daunting. Ideally, pets should be familiarised with car travel from a young age to help make journeys less stressful. Below are some useful items which make transport with your pets a walk in the park!

  • Travel crates: Whether car, train or bus, a crate is practical for keeping your pet safe along the way. Equip with a soft blanket or bed for comfort.
  • Car ramps: If you have older pets who may suffer from joint problems, or large dogs who are heavy to lift into the car, then ramps are a great solution for making the car a more comfortable experience.
  • Leads & leashes: Your pets will naturally want to explore their new environment. With the help of strong leads, you can help them do so safely. Keeping dogs on a lead also protects them from traffic and other unrestrained animals

We hope our recommendations have been handy for helping you prepare to take your pet with you on holiday. The most important thing to remember is to relax and have fun!
